في خطوة تهدف إلى دعم جهود السلام والتنمية المستدامة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط أطلقت منظمة HWPL لجنة تنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة للسلام في الشرق الأوسط خلال فعالية إلكترونية حملت عنوان لجنة تنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة في الشرق الأوسط (العراق) من أجل غدٍ مشرق وذلك في السادس من يونيو بمشاركة نخبة من القيادات الدينية والأكاديمية والإعلامية والشبابية من العراق وعدد من دول المنطقة
وجاءت الفعالية في ظل التحديات المتواصلة التي تواجه العديد من دول الشرق الأوسط وفي مقدمتها العراق والتي تشمل آثار النزاعات طويلة الأمد والانقسامات المجتمعية والتحديات المرتبطة بإعادة الإعمار وتعزيز التماسك الاجتماعي وناقش المشاركون سبل تفعيل أهداف التنمية المستدامة من خلال التعاون بين مؤسسات المجتمع المدني والجهات التعليمية والدينية والإعلامية بما يسهم في بناء مجتمعات أكثر استقراراً وقدرة على مواجهة الأزمات
وشكل الإعلان عن لجنة تنفيذ أهداف التنمية المستدامة للسلام في الشرق الأوسط أبرز مخرجات الاجتماع حيث تضم اللجنة ممثلين عن المؤسسات الدينية وخبراء في القانون الدولي والتربية على السلام والإعلام ومنظمات الشباب. وتهدف إلى تطوير مشاريع مشتركة تعالج التحديات المحلية وتعزز ثقافة الحوار والتعايش السلمي بين مختلف مكونات المجتمع
وأكد الدكتور سرتيب عزيز فارس أهمية دور المؤسسات الدينية في ترسيخ قيم السلام قائلاً: “إن الدين موجود لحماية كرامة الإنسان وقيمة الحياة وليس لتقسيم المجتمعات
ولا يتعلق الحوار بين الأديان بالتخلي عن المعتقدات بل بتعزيز التفاهم المتبادل الذي بدوره يخلق الثقة ويفتح الطريق للتعاونا
من جانبها أشارت السيدة بروين أمين إلى أهمية تبادل الخبرات الدولية في مجال بناء السلام مؤكدة أن مشاركتها في قمة السلام العالمية لـ HWPL عام 2025 أتاحت لها التواصل مع ناشطين وممارسي سلام من مختلف أنحاء العالم معربة عن أملها في مواصلة نشر قيم المحبة والسلام عبر المؤسسات التعليمية
وتسعى المنظمة استناداً إلى نتائج الاجتماع إلى إطلاق برامج تدريبية متخصصة لمعلمي السلام وتعزيز التعاون مع المجالس المحلية فضلاً عن دعم إعلان السلام ووقف الحروب (DPCW) والمبادرات المجتمعية المرتبطة به. كما تخطط لتوسيع حضورها في العراق من خلال استكمال إجراءات التسجيل الرسمي لفرعها المحلي وتنفيذ مشاريع متابعة ضمن إطار اللجنة الجديدة
ويرى مراقبون أن إطلاق هذه اللجنة يمثل محاولة عملية لربط أهداف التنمية المستدامة بمبادرات السلام المجتمعي في وقت تتزايد فيه الحاجة إلى شراكات تجمع بين المؤسسات التعليمية والدينية والمدنية والشبابية، بما يسهم في بناء مستقبل أكثر استقراراً وازدهاراً للعراق والمنطقة
Launch of the Middle East SDGs Peace Implementation Committee: A New Step Toward Stability and Coexistence in Iraq and the Region

In a move aimed at supporting peacebuilding efforts and sustainable development across the Middle East, HWPL launched the Middle East SDGs Peace Implementation Committee during an online event titled “Middle East SDGs Committee (Iraq): For a Brighter Tomorrow” on June 6. The event brought together a distinguished group of religious leaders, academics, media professionals, and youth representatives from Iraq and several countries across the region
The event was held amid the ongoing challenges facing many Middle Eastern countries, particularly Iraq, including the long-term impacts of conflict, social divisions, reconstruction challenges, and efforts to strengthen social cohesion. Participants discussed practical approaches to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through cooperation among civil society organizations, educational institutions, religious communities, and media sectors, contributing to the development of more stable and resilient societies
The official announcement of the Middle East SDGs Peace Implementation Committee was one of the event’s most significant outcomes. The committee includes representatives from religious institutions, experts in international law, peace education specialists, media professionals, and youth organizations. It aims to develop joint initiatives that address local challenges while promoting a culture of dialogue, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence among diverse communities
Dr. Sertib Aziz Faris emphasized the important role of religious institutions in fostering peace, stating:
Religion exists to protect human dignity and the value of life, not to divide societies. Interfaith dialogue is not about abandoning beliefs but about strengthening mutual understanding, which in turn builds trust and opens the way for cooperation
For her part, Parween Amin highlighted the importance of international knowledge-sharing in peacebuilding. She noted that her participation in the HWPL World Peace Summit in 2025 enabled her to connect with peace advocates and practitioners from around the world. She also expressed her hope of continuing to spread the values of love and peace through educational institutions
Based on the outcomes of the meeting, HWPL plans to launch specialized training programs for peace educators, strengthen cooperation with local councils, and continue supporting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and related community initiatives. The organization also intends to expand its presence in Iraq by completing the official registration process for its local branch and implementing follow-up projects under the framework of the newly established committee
Observers believe that the launch of this committee represents a practical effort to link the Sustainable Development Goals with community-based peace initiatives at a time when the need for partnerships among educational, religious, civil society, media, and youth institutions is becoming increasingly important. Such cooperation is expected to contribute to building a more stable, inclusive, and prosperous future for Iraq and the wider Middle East
